Willard Hoel

Willard HoelWillard Hoel (CBA ’60) has been a part of the University of Pittsburgh in one way or another since he came into this world. His father earned a pharmacy degree from Pitt in 1930 and encouraged his son to attend the University. After graduation, Hoel remained connected to Pitt by volunteering his time and making financial gifts.

“I like to use the word ‘obligation,’ but it is also about having a lifelong relationship with my alma mater.”

As part of that relationship, Hoel created several charitable gift annuities. Some of those annuities were funded with the donation of appreciated assets.

“I like the tax benefits and the steady income of CGAs as well as knowing the donation will go to an excellent cause when I’m gone. It’s a great way to start or expand your relationship with Pitt.”

He also invests his time by mentoring new students and helping out the Business School whenever asked.

“I’ll do anything, any time to help the school.”
