Richard and Renee Goldman

Richard and Renee GoldmanRichard (A&S’64, EDUC ’66G, ’70 PhD) and Renee (A&S ’63, EDUC ’65G) Goldman credit their successful careers to hard work and the education they received from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education.

The couple used their solid foundational understanding of curriculum development, early childhood education, organizational theory, and leadership to open a chain of preschools, a curriculum design company, and a series of revolutionary, technology-driven, K-12 and continuing education schools.

The Goldman’s appreciation for their Pitt education prompted them to give back financially.

“Renee and I found it very appealing that we could leave a lasting legacy while giving back to Pitt and supporting the advancement of the discipline of education.”

The Goldmans made their first gift to Pitt in 1972, created the Richard M. and Renee K. Goldman Educational Entrepreneurial Fund in 2013, and then used a charitable lead trust and a charitable lead annuity trust to help fund the Renee and Richard Goldman Dean’s Chair in the School of Education.

“Establishing a charitable lead trust is a win-win for us and the University that set us on our career path. Our gift to Pitt honors the education we received, furthers our field of study, and creates something that lives on for decades beyond our existence.”
