Natalie Steibel

Natalie SteibelGrowing up, Natalie Steibel (ENGR ’22) knew she wanted to use technology to solve problems. She just did not know exactly how. She had fallen in love with science at the age of six when she received her first chemistry set as a Christmas gift.

“It’s amazing how many thing in this world can be understood through chemistry,” Natalie said. “That love of problem solving eventually moved me toward engineering.”

When it came time to choose a university, Natalie—who was always an excellent student—had a long list of options. She knew the Swanson School of Engineering had one of the best programs in the country, but it was the scholarships Pitt offered that sealed the deal.

When asked what she will do when she meets the individuals who provided Pitt funding and created the scholarships, Natalie exclaimed, “I’ll say ‘thank you’ and give them a hug.”

Natalie regularly volunteers playing the piano in the lobby of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Pittsburgh and she finds relaxation in folding complex origami after a hard study session.

“The scholarships help me enjoy my time at Pitt without having to worry as much about how I’m going to pay for it all.”
